SPOC Privacy Policy
- Your library — saved posts, links, photos, tags and reminders — is stored on your phone. We don't receive it.
- Tagging, search and reading text on pictures run on your phone.
- No account is needed. If you choose to sign in with Google, we keep only your name, email and sign-in dates, so backups can work.
- Backups go to your own Google Drive, in a private folder only SPOC can open. We can't see them.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics. We never sell or share your data.
Who we are
SPOC is made by AnjinSama Apps ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the SPOC Android app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.
What stays on your phone
Everything you put in SPOC is stored in the app's private storage on your device:
- the links and posts you save, with their titles, descriptions, creators and pictures;
- photos you take or add in SPOC;
- your tags, search history, reminders and settings;
- text SPOC reads off pictures, and the "meaning" data it uses to search.
SPOC's tag suggestions, search, text recognition, picture labelling and translation all run on your device, using models that live in the app or are downloaded to it. Your content is not sent to us or to an AI service for this.
If SPOC closes unexpectedly, a short technical report (what the app was doing, not your posts) is kept on your phone. It is sent only if you choose to share it, and only to where you send it.
When SPOC uses the internet
- Saving a link. To show a post's title, description and picture, SPOC fetches the public page or preview from the site the link points to (for example Instagram, TikTok or a news site), just as a browser would. That site sees a request from your phone, under its own privacy policy.
- Pictures. Post pictures are downloaded once and kept on your phone.
- Language packs. When you turn on a language, SPOC downloads its files for reading text or translating (from Google's ML Kit service or the open-source Tesseract project). Only the languages you choose are downloaded.
- Opening a post. "Open original" hands the link to the post's own app or your browser.
Optional Google sign-in
You can use SPOC without signing in. If you sign in with Google (to back up to Google Drive), we use Google's Firebase Authentication and keep a small account record in Google's Firebase database:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name and email address | To know who the account belongs to |
| When you joined and last signed in | To keep the account working |
| Whether you want news from us | Only if you turn it on; you can turn it off at any time |
Nothing from your library is stored in this record. Only you (through the app) and we can access it.
Backups
- Google Drive backup (signed-in users): SPOC saves a copy of your library to a hidden app folder in your Google Drive. Only SPOC on your devices can open it; we cannot. SPOC keeps your latest few backups there and removes older ones.
- Backup to a file: saves a copy wherever you choose (for example a folder in your Drive or on your phone). That file is yours; we never receive it.
Permissions SPOC asks for
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Internet | Fetching link previews and pictures, language packs, sign-in and backup |
| Notifications | Showing your reminders, backup and import progress |
| Alarms & reminders, full-screen notifications | Making reminders go off on time and on the full screen, when you ask for that |
| Run at start-up | Putting your reminders back after the phone restarts |
| Photos (picker) | Only the photos you pick yourself |
Sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent or share your data. SPOC contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking tools. The only third parties involved are Google (for optional sign-in, the account record and Drive backups, under Google's privacy policy) and the websites you save links from.
Deleting your data
- Your library: delete posts in the app, or uninstall SPOC to remove everything stored on your phone.
- Your account: in SPOC, open Settings → Account → Delete account. This deletes your sign-in and your account record. See Delete your account for other ways.
- Drive backups: on the web, open Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps → SPOC → Delete hidden app data.
Children
SPOC is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
