SPOC Guide
Saving a post
- In any app — Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, your browser — tap Share and choose SPOC.
- The Add tags window opens with tags SPOC suggests. Ticked ones will be saved; tap a tag to tick or untick it.
- Tap Save. The post lands at the top of your home screen.
You can also tap + on the home screen to paste a link, take a photo, pick one from your gallery, or take a screenshot of something in another app.
Tags
- Your tags come first. SPOC ticks the ones the post clearly talks about, and offers the rest unticked.
- Add new shows new words from the post that could become tags.
- Type in the search field of the window to find any tag or create a new one.
- Tags with a ✦ were added by SPOC; the rest are yours. A tag you remove from a post isn't added back by SPOC.
- Hold a tag anywhere to rename, merge or delete it.
Searching
- Type a word: SPOC finds posts that say it — in the caption, the title, or printed on the picture — and posts about it ("Italy" also finds pizza).
- Tap a tag in the suggestions to filter by it. Press Enter to keep a word as a filter.
- Between filters you'll see and or or. Tap one to switch it. "and" means both; "or" means either.
- Drag one filter onto another to group them as "either of these" — for example Mushrooms or פטריות.
- Tap a filter to remove it. ↶ undoes your last change.
A post's page
- Tap the picture or Open original to open the post in its own app.
- + Add tag and ✨ Suggest tags to change its tags; ✕ removes one.
- ⓘ next to the date shows everything SPOC saved about the post — including text read off its picture.
- The camera button on the picture replaces it with a screenshot or a photo — useful when a post's picture didn't come through.
- The bell sets a reminder; the bin moves the post to Recently deleted, where you can restore it.
Photos
Take a photo in SPOC or pick one from your gallery. SPOC reads the text on it (labels, signs, recipes) and suggests tags from what it reads. You can also pick any line of that text as a tag under "Text on the photo".
Reminders
- Tap the bell on a post. Choose once, daily, weekly, monthly or every few days, and a time.
- Sound, Full screen (shows over the lock screen) and Alarm (rings like an alarm clock, even in Do Not Disturb) are up to you.
- When it goes off: snooze it, dismiss it, or open the post.
- If a red banner says reminders may come late, tap Allow and turn on "Alarms & reminders" for SPOC.
Backup and moving to a new phone
- Google Drive: sign in with Google in Settings → Account, then turn on automatic backup in Settings → Backup. Backups run at night on Wi-Fi.
- To a file: Settings → Backup → save a copy anywhere you like.
- New phone: install SPOC, sign in (or open your backup file), and choose Restore.
Useful settings
- Languages: the languages SPOC reads on pictures and translates search into. Only the ones you turn on are downloaded.
- Privacy: blur or hide the home screen when SPOC opens, and keep it out of the recent-apps preview.
- Recently deleted: deleted posts wait there before they're gone for good.
Questions
Does SPOC upload my saved posts?
No. Your library stays on your phone. Tagging and search run on the phone too. Only if you turn on Drive backup does a copy go — to your own Google Drive. See the privacy policy.
Why does a post have no picture or no text?
Some posts are private, or the site doesn't share them with other apps. Open the post's page and use the camera button to add a screenshot — SPOC reads it and suggests tags.
Why did SPOC suggest a tag that doesn't fit?
Just untick it. SPOC learns from what you remove and stops adding that tag to similar posts.
A reminder came late, or only when I turned the screen on.
Android needs the "Alarms & reminders" permission for on-time reminders. Tap Allow on SPOC's red banner, or find it under Android Settings → Apps → SPOC.
Do I need an account?
No. An account (sign in with Google) is only for backing up to Google Drive.
